i booked my car in for its 40k service by going into the dealership in person on easter saturday i explained to the man on service my car was due its 40k service and showed him my service plan , no. 5415249 which has a 30k done last year 40k and 50k services on the plan i also showed him my toyota service and warranty book showing first service at 4300 miles(done early i think because vehicle was sold by first owner) next service 13k, 22k , 31k which was done last year ,a minor service by the toyota leeds dealership this 30k service is stamped on the books 40,000 mile box which i pointed out to the man, he fully understood that it was a minor service done last year and agreed with me my car was due its full 40k service this year and booked it in for it, i asked for written comformation as such to take with me. he wrote down 40k service 18th april delivery and collection from my place of work. when i got my car delivered back to me on the day i checked my copy of the work carried out and found the boxes ticked by the tech were for a 10k, 1 year service, NOT a full 40k service as i requested. i went into the dealership the next day to ask why the 10k 1year boxes had been ticked, he told me the tech had ticked wrong boxes by mistake and a full service had been carried out. i didnt believe him and asked himto check the job sheet, he did this and showed me it was printed out for a full 40k service but somebody had crossed it out and hand written 50k service on it. his excuse then was somebody had probably got confused by my service book.he then offered to next years minor 50k service as a full one when due, i refused this saying my car would not have been serviced as per the manufactures schedule compromising its safety reliability and value etc, so he said "what do you want me to do then " what you should have done in the first place a full 40k service, which it is now booked in for on monday 23rd april.they phoned me during the service to tell me ineeded a brake fluid change, which i didnt,it was done last year.he also said i needed handbrake adjusting and wanted £40 for this. i told him i had had new rear discs and pads fitted bu them only 2 months or so i shouldnt need this doing so soon and refused to pay, he agreed to carry work out for free. why didnt the service man check this out before phoning me ? also why didnt he phone me to say they were doing a minor service ? all servicing from day one has been carried out by benfield toyota at wakefield and leeds, so there is no excuse for knowing what to do with my car. i am very unhappy with the service i have recd, (not for the first time with benfield leeds ) i purchased my car from there, i get it serviced there, mot done there, new brakes there and this is the poor level of service i get ! my father in law is due a new car this year and is interested in a new yaris, and has asked me what i think of benfield toyota leeds, how can i recommend them after this ?
