The MiTo is Alfa Romeo’s first ever super-mini, which placed the company at the very top of the class for Italian style and sportiness.

The Alfa MiTo, which is styled in Milan and built in Torino (hence the name MiTo), exudes the flair with which the brand and its sister company Maserati are synonymous.

Small yet practical the Alfa MiTo comes with a choice of sporting and frugal engines plus the promise of the sort of impressive residual values that are so often the hallmark of cars with that all-important wow factor. It also undercuts its main rival, the MINI, by about 25%.

All the Alfa Romeo MiTo Turismo versions have manual air conditioning, LED rear lights, electric power assistance, electric windows with one-touch, remote central door locking and boot release which incorporates a full ultrasonic alarm with ALFA code immobiliser, electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors, radio with CD and MP3 reader, follow-me-home headlights, alcohol test kit and adjustable headlights.

Lusso models of the Alfa Romeo MiTo have 16-inch Sport alloy wheels, steering wheel audio controls, fog lights, carbon-effect dashboard, leather steering wheel and gear knob, driver’s seat lumbar support, chrome exhaust pipes, kick plates, headlamp surrounds and a chrome waistline trim on the Lusso and Veloce models.

MiTo Veloce models have 17-inch alloy wheels, front armrest with storage, red brake callipers, rear spoiler, sports cloth upholstery, sports dials with white instrumentation, satin-effect headlight surrounds and wing mirrors plus Blue&Me hands-free with voice recognition and media player with USB port.

The sporting nature of the Alfa Romeo MiTo means that safety is an exceedingly high priority. All versions of the MiTo are equipped with vehicle descent control, hill holder, anti-lock brakes, anti-skid control and brake assist. All MiTos also have electric power steering and dynamique steering torque system, seatbelt reminder display, high-visibility LED rear lights, 7 airbags, front passenger airbag deactivation, alcohol tester kit, front seatbelt safety pretensioners and fire protection system.

The Alfa MiTo is also one of the few cars in its class to have Isofix in the front passenger seat.  It has also been awarded 5 EuroNCAP Stars.  There are also optional rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring and Bi-Xenon headlights with headlight washers.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo comes with a choice of 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre and 1.6-diesel engines with varying power outputs. 

The 1.4-litre 95bhp unit Alfa Romeo MiTo generates pulling power of 129Nm, with a 0-60mph acceleration time of 11.2 seconds and a top speed of 112mph. Economy is 48mpg and the CO2 figure is 138g/km.

The 1.4-litre 120bhp unit Alfa Romeo MiTo generates pulling power of 206Nm from 1,750rpm, with a 0-60mph time of 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 123mph. Economy is 46.3mpg and the CO2 figure is 145g/km.

The 1.4-litre 155bhp unit MiTo generates pulling power of 230Nm at 3,000rpm with a 0-60mph time of 8.0 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. Economy is 43.5mpg and the CO2 figure is 153g/km.

The 1.3JTD 95bhp unit MiTo generates 200Nm of pulling power from 2,000rpm, with a 0-60mph time of 11.8 seconds and a top speed of 110mph. Economy is 62.8mpg and the CO2 figure is 119g/km, therefore benifitting from £35 road fund licence.

The 1.6 JTD 120bhp unit Alfa Romeo MiTo generates a whopping 320Nm of torque, or pulling power, with a 0-60mph time of 9.9 seconds and a 123mph top speed. Economy is 58.9mpg and the CO2 figure is 126g/km.

The MiTo showcases the revolutionary DNA system, which effectively adjusts the car’s response depending on driving conditions.  There is a choice of 3 levels of steering response and 3 different kinds of handling, including Dynamic, Normal and All Weather.

Prices start at £11,935 for the entry-level 1.4 16V 78bhp MiTo Junior, the 1.4 16V 95bhp Turismo is £12,455 and higher specification models include the 1.4 16V95nhp Veloce at £14,235 and rise to £17,885 for the 1.4 MultiAir TB 170 bhp Cloverleaf.

The Diesel varients start from £13,960 for the 1.3 JTDm 95bhp Turismo and rise to the1.6 JTDm 120bhp Veloce at £16,425

CAP expect the Alfa MiTo Veloce 1.3 JTDM to retain an impressive 47% of its value after three years and 60,000 miles, which is the second highest in its segment.
