The Kia Cee’d is a compact, five-door hatch underpinned by the latest technology and designed specifically for Europe, where it is also built. Its roomy, well-equipped cabin exudes a contemporary, stylish ambience and a sense of solidity.

The Kia Cee’d is complemented by the five-door Kia Cee’d SW, which features an innovative tailgate design and excellent load-carrying potential, and the sporty-looking three-door Kia Pro_Cee’d.

All models feature excellent safety credentials, tidy road manners and high standards of assembly, as well as an industry-leading seven-year warranty. Good value and sensible running costs are integral to the Kia’s appeal.

There are three body styles – the dynamic-looking three-door Kia pro_cee’d, practical five-door Kia cee’d hatchback and versatile Kia Cee’d SW, with its larger luggage space and cleverly-hinged tailgate.

All versions have electric power steering, air conditioning, central locking, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, electric front windows and split-folding rear seats.

Almost all models also feature alloy wheels, a six-speaker sound system with USB connector for an MP3 player and remote locking with an alarm. Most cars have climate control and electric rear windows, too. The most luxurious versions feature leather upholstery.

Safety is an intrinsic attribute of the Kia Cee’d model, the Kia cee’d SW and the Kia Pro_Cee’d. As proof of that, the Kia Cee’d has been awarded a maximum five-star crash test rating by EuroNCAP.

Equipment levels are uncompromising where safety is concerned. All models feature ABS anti-lock braking with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution). Sport versions back that up with ESP stability control and Brake Assist System, which helps deliver maximum stopping power in an emergency.

Each model is also fitted with twin front airbags, side airbags and full-length curtain airbags. The rear cabin features ISOFIX child seat mounting points and a trio of three-point seatbelts. There’s also an airbag cut-off to enable the use of a rear-facing child seat in the front.

All engines offer low emissions, but the lowest of all is the 1.6-litre diesel, which emits 128g/km of CO2 in the Kia Cee’d SW and from 125g/km in the Kia Cee’d and Kia Pro_Cee’d.

The Kia Cee’d line-up includes two petrol engines – a 104bhp 1.4-litre and a 124bhp 1.6-litre. The 1.4 combines 46.3mpg fuel economy with 116mph performance. The 1.6 is available with choice of a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic transmission. In manual form it can achieve 119mph and returns an official combined average of 44.1mpg.

The same 1.6-litre engine is also fitted to the Kia Pro_Cee’d and Kia Cee’d SW. The Kia Pro_Cee’d achieves identical performance and economy to the cee’d’s. In the Kia Cee’d SW the 1.6 achieves 43.5mpg economy and 119mph performance.

All three models offer a 1.6-litre turbodiesel in two states of tune – 89bhp and 113bhp – and the 138bhp 2.0 turbodiesel range-topper. Driving through a five-speed manual gearbox, the 1.6 turbodiesel achieves 62.8 mpg and only 119 g/km CO2 in the Kia Cee’d, 58.9mpg in the Kia Pro_Cee’d and 57.6mpg in the Kia Cee’d SW. In all three models, the standard 1.6 offers 106mph performance and the higher-powered version 116mph. The 1.6 turbodiesel is also available with a four-speed automatic in the Kia Cee’d and Kia Cee’d SW.

The 2.0 turbodiesel drives through a six-speed manual gearbox and offers 127mph performance in all three models, as well as strong sprinting ability. Despite its pace, it remains very fuel efficient and is rated at 48.7mpg in the Kia Cee’d SW and 50.4mpg in the Kia cee’d and Kia pro_cee’d.

The five-door Kia Cee’d begins at £10,995 for the SR7, rising to £11,270 for the 1.4 S and the range-topping 2.0 CRDi Sport diesel model costs £15,770. The 1.6 petrol model is priced from £11,820 and the 1.6 CRDi diesel from £12,570. The cheapest Kia Pro_Cee’d is the £11,995 1.4 Pro-Ceed ZR-7 and the three-door line-up culminates in the £15,770 2.0 CRDi Kia Pro_Cee’d Sport. The Kia Cee’d SW ranges from the £13,370 1.6 GS to the £16,570 2.0 CRDi Sport. The 1.6 CRDi diesel Kia Cee’d SW starts at £14,120 in GS trim.
