The Nissan Micra is a chic supermini available in three-door and five-door body styles. Despite its compact exterior dimensions the cabin is roomy and offers seating for five. It also exudes solidity, has thoughtful design details and is well equipped. Ease-to-use technology is a key attribute of its specification.
The Nissan Micra line-up allows a fine degree of personalisation. There is a choice of three and five-door body styles, petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmission, four grades of trim, ten different colours and four interior themes in fabric or leather.
Most Nissan Micra’s also come with air conditioning, electric windows and integrated Bluetooth. Top models have Alcantara and leather trim, heated front seats, climate control, automatic lights and wipers, six-disc CD multichanger and alloy wheels.
Every Nissan Micra is also equipped with anti-whiplash head restraints in the front, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, three-point seatbelts for all five occupants, front airbag deactivation switch and on five-door cars child safety locks on the rear doors. The Nissan Micra has been awarded four stars by EuroNCAP for safety.
There are five different power outputs from the Nissan Micra’s range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. All supply power to the front wheels and are available with five-speed manual gearboxes. A four-speed automatic transmission is also offered on selected 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol variants.
The 1.2-litre engine comes in two states of tune. The 64bhp version provides the entry-point to the Nissan Micra line-up and the 79bhp variant features more broadly across the range. Both versions generate 110Nm of pull and deliver an official average fuel economy of 47.9mpg in manual form. The entry-level 1.2 gives 95mph performance and the higher-powered 1.2 runs to 104mph.
The 1.4-litre petrol engine raises performance to 107mph, again in manual guise. Its 87bhp is backed by 128Nm of muscle and fuel-efficiency extends to a combined average of 44.8mpg.
Diesel fans are treated to a smooth, lusty 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The 1.5 dCi generates 85bhp and 200Nm of pulling strength for 106mph performance. This engine is also the most frugal in the line-up with its combined economy rated at 60.1mpg.
CO2 emissions of the 1.5 dCi diesel are just 125g/km and 1.2-litre petrol variants emit 139g/km in manual guise.
