The transformation takes just 22 seconds and even when raised, occupants inside can still see the sky through the C-View glass roof section. The well-equipped cabin is stylish and offers 2+2 accommodation as well as plenty of user-friendly technology such as Bluetooth and MP3 player connectivity.

 

The Nissan Micra C+C also features nimble handling, refined petrol engines and easy-going road manners.

The Nissan Micra C+C has two doors and a boot that can accommodate between 255 litres and 457 litres, depending on the position of the electrically folding roof. There are four seats, with the rear two intended for occasional use.

Four trim levels rise from entry-level Visia (available on the 1.4 only) through Acenta and Micra 25 to range-topping Active Luxury specification. All Nissan Micra C+C models feature keyless entry, power steering, air conditioning, sports seats, alloy wheels, a six-speaker CD/radio sound system with MP3 input, Bluetooth and electric operation of the windows, roof and door mirrors. Acenta grade also includes rear parking sensors and Tekna trim adds climate control, six-disc CD multichanger and part-leather seats. Active Luxury upgrades that to full leather.

Even when the roof is down, the Nissan Micra C+C offers the protection of a specially reinforced body structure to complement its strong array of safety-related equipment. That includes twin front airbags and side airbags on each model, as well as anti-whiplash active head restraints. Every Nissan Micra C+C also features ISOFIX child seat mounting points and a cut-off switch for the passenger airbag, which enables a rear-facing child seat to be carried in the front seat. Sophisticated electronic aids are part of its safety armoury too. 

All Nissan Micra C+C models have ABS brakes with the added reassurance of EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and Brake Assist. Most manual 1.6-litre models also feature ESP electronic stability control.

Emissions are competitive. The 1.4-litre variant emits 158g/km of CO2 and the manual version of the 1.6 produces 160g/km.

The Nissan Micra C+C is available with two refined, free-revving petrol engines – a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre. Both are four-cylinder engines that power the front wheels and are available with five-speed manual transmissions. In addition, the 1.6-litre engine is offered with the option of a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The more economical of the pair is the 1.4-litre engine, which is rated at an official combine average of 42.8mpg. At that level of fuel efficiency the 1.4 is capable of covering more than 425 miles on a single tank of unleaded.

It’s also an energetic, willing performer and generates 87bhp at 5200rpm. This is backed up by 128Nm of pulling power at 3200rpm. As a result, the 1.4 Nissan Micra C+C is capable of 108mph performance and can reach 60mph from standstill in 12.8 seconds.

More power is available from the 1.6-litre engine, which develops 108bhp at 6000rpm and 153Nm of pulling power at 4400rpm. When fitted with a manual gearbox, the 1.6’s performance is rated at 118mph, with 0-60mph taking 10.6 seconds. The same car is also capable of combined average emissions of 42.2mpg, which is only slightly down on the 1.4’s. The automatic 1.6 combines 111mph performance with 38.2mpg economy.

The 1.4 16v Visia provides the starting point for Nissan Micra C+C ownership at £13,530. The same engine in top Active Luxury specification is £15,091. The Nissan Micra C+C is also available with a 1.6-litre engine from £14,460 in Acenta trim. Automatic transmission is available on 1.6 cars for an extra £900.
