The Nissan Murano has five doors, five seats and a 438-litre boot that can be extended to 877 litres by folding the 60:40 split rear seat. There is one model in the line-up and equipment levels are comprehensive.
As standard, it features a Birdview DVD satellite navigation, seven-inch colour monitor, reversing camera and a seven-speaker Bose sound system with six-disc CD autochanger and controls mounted on the steering wheel. The leather-trimmed cabin also includes heated front seats, climate control, powered driving seat and four electric windows.
The Nissan Murano harnesses the latest technology to ensure its occupants are supremely well protected. Every Nissan Murano has ESP+ electronic stability control, which is linked to an Active Brake Limited Slip Differential and Traction Control System to manage engine power and brake pressure. There’s also ABS anti-lock brakes, EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and Brake Assist. Active safety is furthered by the extra illumination of bi-xenon headlamps, the surefootedness of All Mode 4x4 and an excellent view of the road ahead from the elevated driving position.
The Nissan Murano’s structure is engineered to provide maximum strength in a collision. Occupants also have the reassurance of six airbags, including full-length curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front head restraints and ISOFIX child seat mounting points.
As well as dynamic responses, an equally strong attribute of this engine is its refinement. The technical configuration of a V6 makes it innately smooth in its delivery of power. In addition, the Nissan Murano’s engine features a 24-valve double-overhead-cam design with lightweight aluminium components and advanced variable valve timing. This arrangement helps with fuel efficiency too and despite its strong pace, the Nissan Murano is capable of 23mpg on the official combined cycle. The V6 drives through an Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic gearbox, which heightens responses yet makes for relaxed driving in stop-start traffic.
The Nissan Murano features All Mode 4x4, which is a sophisticated four-wheel drive system that maximises traction in all conditions by automatically directing torque to the wheels where it can be used best.
Unlike some cars where there are a number of trim levels or engines, the Nissan Murano takes a simpler approach and is offered as a single model that costs £32,107. As the roster of standard equipment is so extensive there are few optional extras. Nissan’s Trackstar car security system is available for £600 and side styling bars can be fitted for £716.
