The Nissan Navara is a tough, practical pickup designed for hard work but it is also a powerful, enjoyable vehicle to drive and a comfortable one in which to travel. As its strong, confident styling suggests, the Nissan Navara remains unfazed by terrain and cargo that would make some other 4x4s wilt.

 

The Nissan Navara is capable of transporting cargo weighing more than 1000kg in its load bed, which features Nissan’s acclaimed C-Channel system for securing items safely. The Nissan Navara can also be switched quickly between two and four-wheel drive as conditions demand.

 

The cabin is equipped with many creature comforts and both the king cab and double cab models have rear seats for added versatility.

The Nissan Navara comes as a king cab and for more rear cabin space, a double cab that can seat five people. All feature a large, open load bed that is capable of carrying 1050kg. A wide range of accessories, including hard-tops that cover the load bed are available and give a high degree of personalisation.

As standard, every Nissan Navara has power steering, remote central locking, electric windows, CD/radio sound system, Bluetooth mobile phone connection, alarm, immobiliser and locking tailgate. Most also have alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, electric heated mirrors and front fog lamps.

Aventura versions feature leather upholstery, DVD satellite navigation, six-disc CD autochanger, heated front seats, electric sunroof, rain-sensing wipers and automatic lights.

The Nissan Navara’s rugged looks are underpinned by a strong structure that features front and rear crumple zones, which are designed to absorb energy in a collision and help protect occupants in the reinforced central zone.

Passenger and driver airbags feature across the range. Side airbags and curtain airbags are also fitted to Aventura versions and optional on Outlaw king cabs and double cabs. Most versions have anti-whiplash active head restraints and all double cabs are equipped with two ISOFIX anchoring points for child seats as well as a trio of three-point seatbelts in the rear.

The Nissan Navara benefits from the added traction of four-wheel drive, which can be switched on and off as desired. In addition, every Nissan Navara has ABS anti-lock brakes, EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and Brake Assist.

The CO2 emissions of manual versions are rated at 264g/km. Automatic models emit 276g/km.

The Nissan Navara is available with a strong 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine that is capable of hauling heavy loads, cruising quietly on motorways and handling the cut and thrust of city motoring. The 2.5 dCi engine uses common rail technology for greater refinement and to maximise fuel efficiency. Manual versions of the double cab and king cab have an official combined average of 28.8mpg and the automatic version offers 27.7mpg economy.

The Nissan Navara’s engine is among the strongest and most powerful of any pickup’s. Its healthy 171bhp is backed up by the broad-shouldered pulling power of 403Nm. As a result, the Nissan Navara is rated to tow a braked trailer weight of up to 2700kg, with double cabs capable of hauling 2600kg.

Two transmissions are available. A six-speed manual gearbox is fitted as standard and there’s also the option of a five-speed automatic on Outlaw and Aventura double cab models.

Every Aventura features a limited slip differential to aid off-road traction and minimise wheelspin during road use. In addition, there’s a selectable four-wheel drive system. By turning a switch on the dashboard, the driver can swap the transmission between two and four-wheel drive whilst for tricky off-road conditions there is low-ratio four-wheel drive.

 

The £15,395 Trek 2.5 dCi king cab provides the entry point to Nissan Navara ownership, with the Trek double cab priced at £16,395. At the top of the range is the 2.5 dCi Aventura X-back double cab, which costs £24,865 with automatic transmission.
