The Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 is as practical, strong and capable as it looks. Its versatile interior provides seating for up to seven people in comfortable, well-equipped surroundings. The cabin can also be converted into a load bay whose flat floor is nearly two metres long.
Most Nissan Pathfinder’s have seven seats arranged in three rows. The seating configuration offers up to 64 different permutations so there is ample flexibility for most needs. With all seven seats raised, the boot is 190 litres and this expands to a cavernous 2091 litres in two-seat format.
The Nissan Pathfinder takes a strong approach to active safety as well as the comprehensive provision of passive safety features. That’s why every model is equipped with ESP+ stability control as standard, as well as ABS anti-lock brakes, EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and Brake Assist. These are in addition to its surefooted All Mode 4x4 four-wheel drive.
Safety features include driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags on every model. Active front head restraints are also fitted as standard to help reduce the effects of whiplash. Each model has ISOFIX child seat mounting points in the second row of seating. In crash tests, the Nissan Pathfinder performs strongly and has been awarded four stars by EuroNCAP.
Every Nissan Pathfinder benefits from All Mode 4x4, which is an electronic four-wheel drive system engineered to give the best possible traction in all weathers and on all surfaces. The system automatically adjusts the delivery of torque between the four wheels to suit prevailing conditions. For the most challenging of terrain, low-range gears are available by turning a dial located in the cockpit.
Sport and Aventura models are also equipped with Hill Descent Control, which helps maintain a controlled downhill pace at slow speed, plus Hill Start Assist, which prevents the Nissan Pathfinder from rolling back downhill for three seconds during uphill getaways.
The Nissan Pathfinder offers a lot of ability, space, technology and equipment for the money. Prices start at £23,890, which secures the 2.5 dCi 171 Trek. The same engine in mid-range Sport trim is £26,734 with manual transmission and £28,006 as an automatic. The £30,550 Aventura 2.5 dCi 171 automatic is the line-up’s top model. In manual guise the Aventura costs £29,278.
