The Renault Twingo is a stylish hatchback that is well suited to urban life and inter-city travel along rural routes. Despite its town-friendly dimensions, it also possesses very mature road manners and delivers a level of cruising comfort more commonly associated with larger hatchbacks.

The Renault Twingo is a three-door hatchback with four seats. The rear two seats fold to create a flat load floor and expand the cargo space from 230 to 959 litres. On most variants the seats can also be slid fore and aft independently to balance boot space and legroom as required.
Every Renault Twingo is equipped with power steering, electric windows, front fog lights and remote central locking with the added security of deadlocks. The range-topping RS version also features automatic lights and wipers, alloy wheels, air conditioning and leather trim for the steering wheel and gear knob. A panoramic sunroof is available as an option on all models.

EuroNCAP crash tests. To help reduce the risk of an accident happening in the first place, however, every
Renault Twingo is equipped with ABS anti-lock brakes with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and a brake assist system. ESP stability control and ASR traction control are available as options on most models.
Should the worst happen, protection is provided by two front and two lateral airbags as standard, with curtain airbags offered as optional equipment. The passenger airbags can be deactivated to allow the fitting of a child seat on the front seat, which features purpose-built ISOFIX mounting points.
As well as being gentle on the environment, the Renault Twingo’s all-petrol line-up is easy on the pocket because of its fuel-efficiency. The most economical of all is the 1.2 8v model, which has an official average of 50.4mpg. Combined with its 40-litre fuel tank, that gives a potential range of more than 440 miles between fill-ups. Despite its excellent economy this 60bhp four-cylinder model is responsive enough to stretch to 94mpg performance.
The Renault Twingo is also available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine tuned to deliver 75bhp and 107Nm of pull. This 16-valve version offers an extra turn of pace with just a small reduction in fuel economy. Performance runs to 106mph, while average fuel economy is still impressive at 49.5mpg.
The top of the range engine in the Renault Twingo line-up is a turbocharged, RenaultSport 133bhpl that delivers a combination of 100bhp and 145Nm of pulling power.. However, in keeping with the Renault Twingo’s economical remit, it returns a frugal 40.4mpg on the combined cycle.
All models send their power to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
All versions of the Renault Twingo met Renault’s strict criteria for eco3 status. CO2 output ranges from 132g/km for the 1.2 Extreme to 138g/km for the 1.6 RenaultSport model.
Renault Twingo ownership starts at a £8,495 for the 1.2 Extreme model. The mid-range version is the 1.2 16v 75 a/c Dynamique, which retails for £9,195. At the top of the line-up is the turbocharged 1.2 TCE 100 GT. This is the fastest, plushest Renault Twingo and is priced at £11,308.51.
